Privacy Policy
Note for The Good Tip team: this policy is accurate for the website as it
stands today, but the fields marked [ ] below must be completed with your
registered company details, and the whole document should be reviewed by a lawyer
qualified in your country of establishment before you rely on it. Delete this box once
that is done.
1. Who we are
The Good Tip (“we”, “us”) operates the website at thegoodtip.com and the forthcoming The Good Tip mobile application.
The data controller responsible for your personal data is [ legal entity name ], registered at [ registered address ], company number [ number ]. You can reach us at any time at info@thegoodtip.com.
2. What we collect, and why
Information you give us
When you request an invitation through the form on our website, we collect your name, your email address, and, if you choose to write one, the message explaining why you would like an invite. The message field is optional.
We use this only to review your request, to reply to you about it, and — if your request is accepted — to send you your invitation and let you know when the app launches. We do not add you to any unrelated mailing list, and we do not sell, rent or trade your details.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider records standard server logs when you visit — your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request. These are used to keep the site running and secure, and are retained for a short period by the host.
3. Legal basis for processing
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we rely on:
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — when you voluntarily submit the invite request form.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to keep the website secure and functioning, and to assess invite requests. We have weighed these against your rights and consider the impact minimal.
4. How long we keep it
If your invite request is accepted, we keep your details for as long as you are a member, and for [ 12 / 24 ] months afterwards. If it is declined or you do not take up the invitation, we delete your details within [ 12 ] months. You can ask us to delete them sooner at any point.
5. Who else sees your data
We keep the list of third parties deliberately short. Today it is:
- Netlify — hosts the website and processes the invite request form. Netlify acts as our data processor.
- Google Fonts — our typefaces are served from Google's font CDN, which means your IP address is visible to Google when the page loads. If you would prefer this not to happen, the fonts can be self-hosted; write to us and we will tell you where that stands.
- [ email provider ] — receives and stores the invite notifications we send ourselves.
We do not use advertising networks, and there are no third-party trackers or advertising pixels on this website.
6. Cookies and analytics
This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising trackers. If we add website analytics in future, we will either use a privacy-preserving, cookieless tool, or ask for your consent through a banner before any tracking cookie is set — and we will update this policy before doing so.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers are based outside the European Economic Area. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, it is protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard recognised under Chapter V of the GDPR.
8. Your rights
Wherever you live, if we hold your data you can ask us to:
- Access it — get a copy of what we hold about you.
- Correct it — fix anything inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erase it — delete it entirely (the “right to be forgotten”).
- Restrict or object to how we use it.
- Port it — receive it in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it.
Email info@thegoodtip.com and we will respond within one month, free of charge.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority — in Belgium the Autorité de protection des données, in Spain the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, and in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
9. Children
The Good Tip is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted details to us, contact us and we will delete them.
10. Security
The site is served over HTTPS, form submissions are transmitted encrypted, and access to invite requests is limited to the people who need to review them. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of your details seriously and will tell you and the relevant authority without undue delay if a breach affects you.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be communicated to members directly.
